Nick Lacke is a designer and illustrator developing strong brands and making eclectic, pop-cultural art. Based in Chicago, Illinois.
About me
I am a visual designer and illustrator living in the Chicago, Illinois area. Currently, I am designing web experiences at Sprout Social, advocating for visual storytelling and authenticity within the tech space. I have 15+ years of experience as a visual designer, including a decade of web design and front-end development. I also have experience as a brand illustrator and designer, creating best-in-class experiences in-house for tech companies, universities, and independent clients.
As a creative, I am a huge advocate for function over form. I emphasize the audience’s needs over my aspirations. I also prioritize relationships, using humility and honesty to build strong connections across organizations.
During my precious downtime, I create art, prints, and other paper goods—some of which you can purchase here. I am heavily influenced by comics, horror and sci-fi films, politics, and travel.
I live in Oak Park with my partner, Crystal, and our two kids, Keaton and Daisy.
Important facts
I was once a finalist in an international online Vincent Van Gogh lookalike contest.
Nick Lachey once apologized to me for his fame causing my (very similar) name to be the butt of many jokes—especially in the late 90s.
I have said the word “butt” on CNN (see below).
